Greenfield Endorsed by Laborers' International Union of North America

DES MOINES, Iowa – Theresa Greenfield, candidate for Congress in Iowa’s Third Congressional District, announced today that her campaign has been endorsed by the Laborers' International Union (LiUNA). Greenfield has begun to amass labor support in the Democratic primary, having previously secured the support of AFSCME Local Council 61, Boilermakers Local 83, and the Omaha and Southwest Iowa Building and Construction Trades Council, which has jurisdiction over eight of the Third Congressional District’s sixteen counties.

“The foundation of this grassroots campaign is the idea that every working Iowan deserves to make enough money to support their family,” Greenfield said. “I am so proud to have the support of the Laborers', because together we’ll fight tooth and nail everyday for policies that will bring about higher wages, safer working conditions, and a fairer economy for all.”

“Theresa Greenfield’s campaign is focused on expanding and protecting the middle-class – and her roots with union families means she knows exactly why the labor movement is key to this,” Charlie Schempf, Great Plains Laborers’ District Council Business Manager, said. “Theresa is the candidate that can best articulate a vision of an economy that works for all Iowans, and the Laborers are proud to stand behind her in this campaign.”

Theresa is running for Congress with the same farm kid values and plain-spoken, get-it-done attitude she has demonstrated throughout her life. She knows it will take Iowa values - mixed with a heavy dose of can-do common sense - to overcome the problems we face here and in Washington.
